The Payroll Fundamentals II microcredential provides learners with an understanding of payroll accounting, including remittances to government and third-party stakeholders, year-end reporting, and payroll technology. Learners gain the knowledge to calculate federal, provincial, and territorial remittances, prepare payroll accounting documentation, and complete year-end reports. This microcredential covers the role of technology in ensuring compliance and effective communication of payroll processes.

Course Structure

  • Virtual training, led by an instructor (Computer & internet access is required)
  • February 8 to April 23, 2027
  • 45 hours over 10 weeks (Monday and Wednesday | 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm)

Certification

When you complete the Payroll Fundamentals II microcredential, you’ll earn a digital badge—a shareable, visual credential that shows employers you understand the legislative foundation of payroll in Canada. Add it to your résumé, LinkedIn profile, or email signature to stand out in the job market.

Admission Requirements

  • Individuals with an interest in the Payroll Profession (entry-level)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Successful completion of Payroll Fundamentals I (GACG1129 & GACG1076 at ɧ»¢tv)

Registration/Payment

Registration Deadline: January 22, 2027
Register and pay at least 8 business days before the microcredential begins (by January 27, 2027)

How to Enroll in the Payroll Fundamentals II Microcredential at ɧ»¢tv:

Dual Registration: Students must register with both NPI (National Payroll Institute) and ɧ»¢tv. 
(Register at least 5 business days before the microcredential begins).

  1. * – Pay Candidate Membership fee of $110 + tax annually.
  2. Register with ɧ»¢tv – Send completed ɧ»¢tv application form (pdf) to tracy.magee@nbcc.ca and pay ɧ»¢tv’s tuition fee of $320 per microcredential.
  3. Register with NPI – Pay NPI’s course fee of $350 + tax per microcredential to access learning platform and online materials.

* Payroll designations in Canada are only available to NPI members. If you are already a member, you only need to pay the tuition and course fee per microcredential.
